SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (July 26, 2010) – Nippon Shaft today congratulated the champion of the inaugural English Challenge after he shot a final round 4-under par 68 to win his first European Challenge Tour event at England’s Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa.
It also was Nippon Shaft’s first victory on the European Challenge Tour.
The 31-year-old Australian made a par putt on the final hole Sunday (July 25) to defeat his amateur playing partner, who made a three-putt bogey on the closing par 3. The winner was four strokes back when he began his final round but got into contention quickly by recording three early birdies.
The winner used Nippon Shaft’s 129-gram N.S. Pro Superpeening Blue X flex shafts in Mizuno’s Europe-only model MP68 Black Nickel irons and Nippon Shaft’s WV125 shafts in his Callaway X forged wedges. His winning share of the purse was 24,000 euros.
