New deal with Beijing Direct Link Golf sees Superstroke slot into largest multi-channel distribution network in China’s burgeoning golf market.
02 Nov 2011, Beijing, China. Superstroke Golf and Beijing Direct Link Golf today announced a distribution agreement for Superstroke products in China. The deal will see Superstroke’s performance grips and its newly-launched Superstroke Milled putter range become available nation-wide, from Harbin in the far north, to Beijing, Kunming, Kunshan, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong in the south.
Announcing the new partnership, Ian Zubkoff, Superstroke’s Vice President, Sales commented, “This is a big deal for us. On the back of our success in the US and our growing exposure on the world’s professional tours, the time was right for us to make a significant move into the lucrative Asian market. This hook-up with Direct Link is precisely the deal we’ve been looking for. Their coverage is second to none and they focus exclusively on premium, precision-engineered products – the exact philosophy we have used to build our brand to date.”
With more than 200 employees serving every major metropolitan area, Direct Link has taken an impressive position in the megamarket that China is fast becoming. In addition to its wholesale and distribution divisions, Direct Link owns and operates 13 retail superstores in cities throughout the country. Not to mention its driving ranges, club fitting centers and its new Direct Link Anselmo Golf Academy in Beijing, of which John Anselmo himself (Tiger’s coach, up to the Stanford years) is director in chief.
Despite the diversified portfolio, Direct Link’s core business remains firmly in equipment distribution. The company is the licensed distributor for premium Japanese brands Maruman, S-YARD, Mutsumi Honma and Akira. The Superstroke deal is the company’s first tie-up with a US brand.
Zhao Yi Wang, CEO of Direct Link Golf, comments, “There is an appetite in our market for premium-priced international brands. Up until now, we have stuck with our ultra-exclusive Japanese brands, so the Superstroke deal is an important change in direction for us. The performance of the Superstroke grips on the professional tours speaks for itself, but I personally see just as much opportunity in the Superstroke Milled putter range. I am hugely impressed – the technical quality is a match for anything coming out of Japan. We will look to build the Superstroke brand as America’s answer to Japanese manufacturing excellence.”
