CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 15, 2012) – Two of golf’s most outstanding and enduring male and female Hall of Fame members used Nippon Shaft products in their irons Sunday to record top-10 finishes on the PGA and LPGA Tours, respectively.
The 49-year-old former Masters champion used the Nippon Shaft N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 to finish tied for fourth at the $5 million Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif. He finished at 14-under par 270 for the tournament on rounds of 70-66-66-68, earning $196,875. It was his fifth top 10 in a season that has seen him collect official earning of more than $1.5 million.
On the LPGA Tour, longtime Nippon Shaft-user and endorser Karrie Webb finished third at the Sime Darby LPGA event in Malaysia, using Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO 1050GH steel shafts in her irons and the Regio TYPE65-MB01 graphite shafts in her driver and fairway metals. Webb shot 12-under par 272 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club on rounds of 65-71-68-68, earning $130,000. It was the sixth top-10 finish of the season for the native Australian and multiple major champion, who has earned $817,574 so far this year.
“Nippon Shaft is excited and proud that two Hall of Fame members chose to use Nippon Shaft products to compete on golf’s finest men’s and women’s tours,” said Hiro Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We congratulate them and wish them the best.”
