Mizuno Golf Announces Four More Winners To Team JPX

Average golfers from Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts and Nebraska “Play Famously” with iconic iron company

Norcross, Ga. (May 6, 2013) – Mizuno Golf announced today the second round winners of its “Play Famously” campaign that includes the next four members to fill out the “Team JPX” roster of “game-improvement” professionals.

Michelle French, William Cuebas, Casey Parent and J.B. Phillips from Littleton, Colo., Wesley Chapel, Fla., Boston, Mass. and Omaha, Neb. respectively, were selected out of thousands of applications to receive the Pro treatment from Mizuno and celebrate the “Average Joe and Jane’s” quest for game-improvement using Mizuno’s award-winning JPX-825 irons.

Michelle French, a public information officer for the West Metro Fire Rescue, has a passion for golf that is well known by her colleagues and family. As a regular competitor against her fellow fire fighters on the course, French has finished at the top of the leaderboard countless times. When she is not vying for the lowest round with her co-workers, French is also a member of a Denver-based women’s league where she sports a 16-handicap.

After a career as a New York City law enforcement officer, William Cuebas retired and headed south to Florida to play more golf and improve his game. Cuebas plays multiple rounds per week and shares his passion on the course and online through social media and popular golf forums. Over the past five years, Cuebas has lowered his handicap to 19 and with his new equipment is aiming to shave several more strokes off of his index by the end of 2013.

Since Casey Parent first began playing golf at nine years old, his commitment to the game has never waivered. Fitting in golf practice between his study’s at Suffolk University Law School is not an easy task for Parent, yet he is always able to find time to feed his passion, whether it is watching the Golf Channel, catching golf-related articles online or having to convert the Boston Common in to a putting green.

A former Academic All-Big 12 Tight End at University of Nebraska, J.B. Phillips is not your typical golfer. Phillips took up golf as a way to feed his competitive nature at the conclusion of his football career, and found it to also be a bonding activity to do with his father. Currently a 15 handicap, Phillips is looking forward to taking that number even lower with his new set of custom clubs fit for his swing and 6’3″ frame.

This powerful foursome joins Lee Baughman, Rob Cohen, Steve Gierer and Josh Ray, the initial members of Team JPX. The newly minted Mizuno Brand Ambassadors will be outfitted from head to toe with Mizuno gear and apparel, including the new JPX-825 irons, and will begin their personal game-improvement journeys in preparation for competition at the inaugural JPX Invitational in Atlanta in September.

“We are excited to welcome Michelle, William, Casey and J.B. to the Mizuno family as the latest members of Team JPX,” said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Golf Division for Mizuno USA. “Through thousands of entries, these four aspiring golfers displayed an unwavering love for the game and demonstrated the qualities and attributes necessary for a member of Team JPX. This program continues to gain momentum and we are excited to be one step closer to finalizing our topnotch team of game-improvement players.”

The final four members of Team JPX will be selected through an online contest at playfamously.com, where golfers are encouraged to try the new JPX-825 irons at a participating retailer, and provide their feedback on the high performance game-improvement irons through a brief essay, photos and/or videos demonstrating their passion for the game and why they deserve to be on Team JPX. Applications for the coveted spots on Team JPX will be accepted through Friday, May 24, 2013. Those individuals who applied in the first two rounds will also be considered for a spot on the team in the remaining judging period.

At the heart of the Play Famously campaign is the newest addition to the JPX line of game-improvement irons, the JPX-825. The JPX-825s utilize an ultra-thin, Hot Metal face which delivers an enhanced ‘trampoline effect’ for the extra distance that all players desire. But because distance is nothing without forgiveness, the JPX-825s also feature an enormous sweet area, providing players with more consistent results that will leave even their mis-hits closer to the pin.
