Greensboro, N.C. (May 2013) – On the heels of Governor Pat McCrory’s proclamation of May 8 as “Golf Day in North Carolina” – to acknowledge the state’s $4.2 billion golf economy – Greensboro has proclaimed “Carolinas PGA Week” from May 12-18.
On Monday, May 13, the Carolinas PGA Section will host an open house – including golf, of course – to celebrate the organization’s inaugural year in Greensboro. The CPGA moved its headquarters to Greensboro’s famed Bryan Park from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and dedicated its new office building in April 2012.
Last year, the Carolinas PGA Section raised a record-breaking $515,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation, received the prestigious Freedom Warrior award for those efforts, partnered with the Wyndham Championship, hosted more than 100 events across the Carolinas with purses in excess of $815,000, and held the Carolinas Open at Bryan Park Golf Course last week.
In 2014 for the first time ever, The Carolinas PGA Section will hold its annual meeting and merchandise show at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, in February. The CPGA will also continue to work with Wyndham Championship and The First Tee of the Triad to strengthen the golf market in the area. In addition, it will partner with Habitat Humanity of Greater Greensboro on a build project.
