May 30, 2013 (Phoenix, AZ) – GolfSwitch’s expansion into Europe continues with over 400 Swedish golf courses live and available on the GolfSwitch network. Courses have started opening up in Sweden after a long and cold winter. Social media is buzzing with talk of spring coming to Sweden and golfers are ready to get out and play.
GolfSwitch will be providing the Swedish Golf Federation access to the GolfSwitch distribution network. By golf courses coming on the network they are gaining exposure to new markets and most importantly the abroad golfer coming over to play. The GIT reservation system that has been in operation in Sweden for many years provides Swedish Federated golfers with an online booking platform but prevented foreigners from booking online.
Per Svensson, Swedish Golf Federation Project Leader for Tourism explains: “As in every country, Swedish Golf is under pressure and keeping the doors closed for foreigners to book online is just something we cannot afford to do anymore. There is also more and more interest from the Swedish courses and the tourism industry to showcase Sweden as a golf destination. Contradicting common belief, Sweden is actually a good value for the money, as green fees are amongst the cheapest in Europe. We have followed GolfSwitch’s steady progress in the European market and found that with our selection of courses and their technology it was a natural and perfect fit for us to partner together to attract more golfers to Sweden.”
Joakim Sabel, Managing Director of Toptee which includes Kungsangen GC continues: “Over the past couple of years we have increased our marketing efforts towards foreign golfers who did not considered Sweden as a destination. At Kungsangen GC, as a way to try and increase awareness about our golf course within Europe, we became members of the European Tour Properties network. When I met with GolfSwitch by chance, I immediately saw the potential not only for our course but for all Swedish golf courses and I am very pleased that the Swedish Golf Federation have picked up on it and pushed our inventory onto the GolfSwitch network.”
Sweden is a fantastic yet undiscovered destination for golfers, with pockets of courses around all the major cities. In the South around Malmo, golfers can play on Barseback, Falsterbo, Ljunghusen and other renowned golf courses. Fly into Stockholm and a half hour later you are teeing it up on Bro Hof Slott, Kungsangen Kings and Queens and even on the Stockholm Golf Club in the centre of the city. With a choice of hotels, great food, Swedish hospitality and friendliness, taking a group of friends to Sweden to play golf should be on top of your agenda. During the spring, summer and autumn months, the climate is mild and dry with plenty of daylight which allows golfers to play until late in the evening.
Jo Maes, Managing Director Golfswitch International: “Getting Sweden online is a boost for our company as it provides our European golfers with an alternative to the traditional summer destinations. Sweden has a reputation when it comes to professional golf and continuously seems to churn out champion golfers. What we have to realize is that these golfers have all grown up on quality golf courses the width and breadth of the country. The cooperation with the Swedish Federation has been exemplary and tapping into the GIT system provided us with live inventory to over 400 courses in one swoop. There is a real appetite for golf tourism in Sweden and we are delighted to be able to assist the Swedish courses in featuring their inventory on the GolfSwitch Network.”
GolfSwitch allows travel partners, tour operators and other resellers’ access to golf inventory online, saving them time and money. GolfSwitch has the network and the worldwide consensus in the market that online bookings will only continue to grow as it has in the airline, hotel and rental car sectors.
The GolfSwitch’s network continues to expand worldwide with more courses realizing that the future for their business is online, allowing golfers to book rounds, packages, golf passes, specials and more through a variety of online channels.
The next big thing in managing available tee time inventory is Yield Management and GolfSwitch already has the perfect golf course Yield Management system. Golf courses are thinking the way airlines and hotels have by pushing a variety of golfers to a select time of the day or week depending on their expectations and demands. Yield Management allows a golf course to set the limits and depending on availability, demand, weather patterns, seasons, advance bookings etc green fee rates will be adjusted automatically to maximize the revenue on every available tee time. Courses using Yield Management have seen an immediate and substantial increase in green fee revenue
GolfSwitch continues to cement itself as the world leader in online tee time technology and works with the golf courses allowing them a selection of engines that suit their needs. GolfSwitch’s business integrity very much separates them from their competitors.
