PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, June 4, 2013 – The Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ certification program by the National Women’s Golf Alliance (NWGA) was recognized as one of the top three Industry Best Practices presented at the recent 23rd Annual ING Spring Conference held at the Reunion Resort outside of Orlando. This annual gathering of media and golf industry leaders from all aspects of the business is conducted by the non-profit International Network of Golf.
The NWGA also participated in One-On-One sessions at the conference to familiarize attendees with its certification program that assesses golf facilities on standards and best practices that make the facility welcoming and attractive to women. A trained NWGA evaluator and three female guests play an 18-hole round to evaluate the facility on five key areas of focus: Golf Course Playability, Customer Service, Golf Course Amenities, Facility Amenities and Golf Programs. Facilities that achieve a score of 80% or higher in at least three of these areas receive certification.
At the ING Awards dinner, Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort located north of Tampa, was presented with NWGA plaques recognizing that its four courses have earned Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ certification.
“We appreciate the opportunities that the ING Conference offered to introduce our Rolling Out the Green Carpet™ certification program to so many influential people in the golf industry,” said Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA and a NWGA founding partner. “It was fitting that our program, which recognizes golf facility best practices to attract women, also was acknowledged by the ING attendees as an Industry Best Practice.”
Launched in 2012, the NWGA offers course evaluations, consultation and its ‘Rolling Out the Green Carpet’ certification program. It unites four of the nation’s most highly respected women’s golf organizations, the EWGA, Golf for Cause, LLC, Jan Bel Jan Golf Course Design, and Ladies Links Fore Golf, LLC (LL4G).
They have brought together their years of expertise, data and observation regarding what women golfers want, need and expect for an enhanced playing experience that keeps women excited about and engaged in golf for years to come. Utilizing this information, the NWGA has developed a base of standards and best practices to help make golf facilities more welcoming and attractive to women and enhance golf’s overall appeal to women.
