Eagle Golf Goes All in with Visage

June 28, 2013

Augusta, Ga., June 26, 2013 – Eagle Golf, one of the nation’s largest golf course management firms, is adding Club Car’s Visage Mobile Golf Information System at nine Texas courses, bringing the number of Visage systems at Eagle properties to 980.

Visage is a GPS-based system developed in cooperation with Sarasota-based GPS Industries that helps golf courses offer an enhanced experience to members and guests during and after their round. With its high-definition color screen, precise yardages, two-way messaging and hole flyover features, Visage helps golfers enjoy their round more while it builds customer loyalty.

Visage helps course managers increase revenues, lower operating expenses, manage their golf car fleets and improve customer satisfaction with tools that include: two-way cellular communications; real-time positioning, which keeps the golf shop aware of golfers’ exact location; and the ability to limit golf car access to predetermined areas, protecting turf and reducing labor time and costs for mowing and staking.

Dallas-based Eagle Golf, which leases and manages 28 courses in seven states, installed its first Visage system in 2012 at its flagship property, Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas, and has since added the system at Teravista in Round Rock, Texas, and Iron Horse in Leawood, Kan.

According to Eagle Golf president and CEO Joe Munsch the company’s experience at those courses led him to expand the system to other courses.

“We’ve been through several generations of GPS-based systems, and Visage is a real step above anything we’ve had before,” said Munsch. “The screens’ clarity and the amount of information the system gives the golfer and the operator makes this system really stand out.”

Visage is scheduled to be installed at Eagle Golf’s Mansfield, Riverside, WestRidge, Plantation, Canyon Springs, Clear Creek, Indian Creek, Cinco Ranch and Fossil Creek courses next month.

Munsch said Eagle courses will continue to charge golfers a $3 to $5 premium to use the Visage system. “Where we’re doing that, (the upcharge) has more than paid for the system. It’s become a profit center for us.”

Visage is also a competitive advantage, Munsch said. “In today’s world, we’re all about enhancing the experience of the golfers, so they can have more fun. And this does that, no question.”

In addition to increasing revenues, Visage also helps to lower costs at a number of Eagle courses that now use the system instead of employing marshals. “We can now control pace of play right from the pro shop,” Munsch said.

“We didn’t think the other (GPS) systems were bad,” Munsch said, “but Visage is so much better.”
