Golf Course Development … The Next Phase

September 12, 2013

Southeast Asia was a hotbed for golf course development in the 80Ì¢?å_s and the 90Ì¢?å_s. This was a period when virtually all of the big name golf course architects were busy scooping up new contracts and striking up multi-million dollar deals to build spectacular golf courses and even more spectacular and lavish club houses.

Those were definitely the glory days of golf development in the region. Today, with the dawn of the new millennium, many of these golf courses are at a stage where renovation is required. In some cases, where the courses have been well maintained, there is a need for a degree of upgrades while in many other cases, a total re-build is urgently required.

With the economy of the region looking very healthy and with a new-found confidence amongst golf course owners, the order of the day is most definitely course renovation. This will be a topic for serious discussion at the 2013 Asia Pacific Golf Summit to be held at the plush five-star Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta, Indonesia on November 5 – 7.

A high-powered panel has been set up to discuss golf course renovation in Southeast Asia and the panel members are:

• Ross Perrett Managing Director and Head Designer Thomson Perrott Golf Course Design

• Robert Moore, Jr., ASGCA Principal JMP Golf Course Design

• Richard Mandell Principal Richard Mandell Golf Architecture

• Howard Swan Principal Swan Golf Design & Chairman of Golf Consultants Association

• Kevin Ramsey Principal/Vice President Golfplan

If you are a golf course owner, operator or club general manager, this is a panel session that you cannot afford to miss. Listen to the experts as they provide you with their thoughts on how you should embark on a golf course renovation project or even to start from scratch to build a new golf course.
