The Northern California Section of the PGA of America has awarded Stacy Baker with their 2014 Golf Course Superintendent of the Year Award. Baker has been an employee at Haggin Oaks in Sacramento for almost two years.

The Golf Course Superintendent of the Year award is bestowed on an individual for their service and contributions to the game of golf within the Northern California PGA Section.

Mike Woods, PGA, director of golf at Haggin Oaks, remarked, “With hundreds of golf courses in Northern California, we are very proud that Stacy Baker was singled out with this prestigious award. Not only has he made significant improvements to the playability of our 36-hole facility, he has also networked with other superintendents to discuss how best to deal with limited water supplies during our California drought.”

Baker revealed that he is honored to receive this Northern California PGA award. “When you spend your time growing things, you get a sense of the majesty of nature,” he explained. “I look forward to the new challenges every day provides but I also am excited to be working at a spectacular facility like Haggin Oaks.”

The NCPGA awards ceremony takes place in December.
