In April, Golf Digest, in partnership with Chevron, introduced a new award—The Dinah!—to honor Dinah Shore’s legacy. This award celebrates a visionary leader who exemplifies generosity and dedication to advancing women. The team behind The Dinah! sought a piece of art the recipient could proudly display in their home. They turned to renowned artisan and sculptor Malcolm DeMille, known for creating artistic and highly detailed trophies for the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, and LPGA circuits.
When Malcolm DeMille was briefed on the award’s details, it was clear that a heart would convey the importance of The Dinah! and lend itself to an imaginative award and art piece. The team sculpted a heart providing movement through shape, texture, artistically applied patina, and polished bronze. An inscription is mounted on the bottom of the award which honors the specific recipient.
At the beginning of the Chevron Championship this year Golf Digest and Chevron presented this newly coveted award to former Secretary of State and 19th U.S. National Security Advisor, part owner of the Denver Broncos, first black female member of Augusta National, and ESPNW Impact 25 member, Dr. Condoleezza Rice. Rice’s career of public service and longtime partnerships in athletics, set a new standard for women’s leadership. Currently Dr. Rice uses golf to mentor to women to build confidence and relationships, making her an incredible choice for the inaugural winner of The Dinah!
