GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE WITH EXPERIMENTAL PRACTICE

March 18, 2025

Frank Longabucco, Golf Program Instructor at Keiser University’s College of Golf, highlights the benefits of experimental practice and getting out of your comfort zone to improve your golf game. Using advanced tools like FlightScope and V1, Frank works with a skilled player, Jared Drake, to refine his technique. Jared, a scratch golfer and team captain, aims to improve his ability to hit fades—a shot outside his comfort zone.

Frank explains the importance of random practice, where golfers experiment with different shots and situations to build versatility. Jared practices hitting fades with a 7-iron, measuring and journaling his results to track progress. Frank emphasizes how this approach helps players adapt to on-course challenges, like varying lies or wind conditions, and improves their ability to shape shots effectively.

By incorporating random practice, journaling results, and experimenting with different shot types, golfers can develop greater consistency and control. Frank encourages players to embrace discomfort during practice to achieve meaningful improvements on the course.
