Tour Players Continue Using StrackaLine’s USGA-Compliant Greens Guides

Golfers Are Legally Using Greens Guides in 2019

San Diego, Calif. – StrackaLine’s USGA-compliant greens guides are back in use in Hawaii as the world’s best players return to the course.

A new interpretation of Rule 4.3 took effect on January 1, 2019, but StrackaLine, working with the USGA, has produced its industry-leading greens guides with the governing body’s approval. StrackaLine’s books were used in competitive events throughout the country in the opening days of the year.

“Our goal, as it has been from the beginning, is to help golfers putt better, and we are happy to continue doing that with our best-in-the-game greens guides,” said company president Jim Stracka. “Whether it’s on Tour or at your club championship, golfers want to play better and we look forward to helping them do so again in 2019.”

StrackaLine, buoyed by greens maps that are accurate down to the millimeter, has enjoyed widespread adoption at all levels of the game in recent years. The company’s greens books are used on every major professional tour in the United States and by more than 300 Division I college teams.

On October 15, 2018, the USGA and R&A released guidelines for Greens Guides as part of a re-interpretation of Rule 4.3, and StrackaLine worked diligently to comply with the regulations while still providing golfers the information they need.

StrackaLine scans courses for $1,500 and that includes 100 greens guides for resale. The scanning process takes five hours to complete and is unobtrusive to the golfer experience.

StrackaLine has 800+ courses scanned, including some of the nation’s most prominent layouts. The greens maps, which feature easy to read arrows, allow players to view contour and fall lines, in addition to slope percentage, anywhere on the green.

Professional usage has helped drive interest in StrackaLine Greens Guides, and the technology is just as valuable to “regular” amateur golfers hoping to improve their score.

StrackaLine will continue to add to its library of golf courses throughout 2019. It takes just eight minutes to scan and capture an entire green and the StrackaLine team can complete an 18-hole course and practice green in five hours without disrupting play.
