StrackaLine Scans Frederica Golf Club, Will Bring Industry Leading Technology To Exclusive Course

St. Simons Island Club Will Use StrackaLine Greens Guides, Hole Location Software

StrackaLine, one of golf’s leading technology companies, has scanned Frederica Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga., and will begin providing the exclusive club with its best-in-the-game greens guides and its revolutionary hole location software.

Using a 3-D laser scanner, the StrackaLine team collected millions of data points on each green at Frederica GC and will use the information to create a topographical map of each putting surface, accurate down to the millimeter.

The data collected will be processed by the company’s hydrology software that calculates water drainage flow from the highest points of the green to the lowest, creating golf’s most detailed greens maps.

On October 15, 2018, the USGA and R&A released guidelines for Greens Guides, and StrackaLine is working with the governing bodies to ensure golfers have books that comply with Rule 4.3.

Use of StrackaLine greens guides have soared for professional, amateur and recreational players, but the benefits of the technology extend to course maintenance and setup as well.

Frederica will use StrackaLine’s Hole Location software, which allows superintendents to choose among 100-150 pin positions on each green that have been evaluated for fairness and challenge. The ability to set pin positions based on data helps improve pace of play and course conditions by ensuring hole locations are set fairly.

StrackaLine scans courses for $1,500 and that includes 100 greens guides for resale. The scanning process takes five hours to complete and is unobtrusive to the golfer experience.

StrackaLine’s quality and accuracy have led to widespread adoption on the PGA, LPGA and Web.com tours, in addition to their use by more than 300 Division I college teams.

The greens maps, which feature easy to read arrows, allow players to view contour and fall lines, in addition to slope percentage, anywhere on the green.

StrackaLine now has 800+ courses scanned, including some of the nation’s most prominent layouts.
